


- Minos (soon to be king) asked Poseidon for a sign that he would make a good king
- Poseidon sent him a bull, from the sea, expecting the bull to be sent back as a sacrifice
- When Minos did not return the bull s a sacrifice, Poseidon got angry
- Minos used the bull to become the most powerful man in Creed
- He also used the bull to try to defeat the Greeks
- Poseidon got mad and made the bull wild and crazy
- He also made Minos wife (Pasafea) have sexual desire for the bull
- Pasafea and the bull created a son who had the head of a bull, the body of man, and the temper of a demon
- Everyone named it "Minotaur"
- Because of the temper of the minotaur, they locked him away in a labyrinth
- Theseus was sent to kill the Minotaur
- Because it was almost impossible to find your way out of the maze, he was given a ball of yarn to use to get out
- Theseus' father had told him to sail white flags if he killed the minotaur and black flags if he died
- Theseus was so happy that he had killed the Minotaur, that he forgot to switch the colors of he sails from black to white
- His father saw the black sails, and killed himself because he was so upset that his son was dead
- This myth represents hubris punishment because Minos did not obey Posideon and therefore a horrible demon like monster was born to his wife.
